    The Prophet (peace and prayers be upon him) said:" Whoever amongst you sees something wrong let him change it with his hands and if he unable to then let him change it with his tongue and if he was unable then let him hate it in his heart and that is the weakest of faith."{Collected by Imaam Muslim} This is the way we tighten our brotherhood we don't have to be perfect to remind one another just sincere, even if the one warning against an evil was guilty of the same evil or participating in it he\she must speak out against it for being silent about it adds to that evil and Allah praised this ummah for the fact that they encourage good and forbid evil Allah said: You are the best nation brought out from the people, because you enjoin that which is good forbid that which is evil and believe in Allah.{Aal Imraan: 110} Furthermore not enjoining the good and forbidding the evil is a reason for Allah to generalize his punishment Allah said: And fear the trial that may not be restricted to those who do wrong among you and know that Allah is severe in punishment. {Al Anfal: 25} And the Prophet (Peace and prayers be upon him) said: There use to be from the Children of Isra'il that if a man saw his brother doing wrong he would warn him from it, then the next day he would see him and see no change in him but this wouldn't prevent him from sitting with and eating with him, so when Allah saw that from them he caused their hearts to differ and cursed them on the tongues of their Prophets Dawuud and Isa the son of Maryam that is because they disobeyed and the evil they were accustomed to doing and then he said: By the one in whose hand my soul is you must enjoin the good and forbid the evil and you must seize the hand of the wrong doer and point him to the truth or Allah will cause you hearts do differ and he will curse you as he has cursed them" and Allah the most high said: Cursed were those who disbelieved from the Children of Isra'il on the tongue of Dawuud and Isa the son of Maryam that is because they disobeyed and the evil they were used to doing, they didn't forbid one another from the evil they were committing evil indeed is that which they used to due. {Al Maa'ida: 78-79}
    And the Prophet said: Indeed Allah doesn't send a general punishment due to the sins of specific individuals until they see evil being committed between themselves and they have the ability to change it yet they don't, so if they do that Allah sends his punishment generally and specifically." {Fathul Bari: 13/4} At the same time the one who enjoins the good but doesn't do it or forbids evil while he commits it is in grave danger Allah said: O you who believe why do you say that which you do not do it is great in the sight of Allah that you say that which you do not do. {Saff: 3} and The Prophet (May peace and prayers be upon him) said: There will be a man in the fire going around like a donkey dragging his intestines the people of the fire will gather around him and say: O so and so, how did you get to the fire you, use to enjoin the good and forbid the evil? He will say: I used to order you with good and not do it and forbid you from evil yet do it. {Collected by Imaam At Tirmithy}
